I found a key
My most fabulous fabrics give me the
urge to sew. At the Swedish island Sollerön in Dalecarlia I find the inspiration to draw
and paint. Wild flowers set me on to colour combinations, and lakes bathing in sunlight
give me inner harmony. They are all keys opening up to creativity. Quilting and textiles
are not always the first step on the patch towards new patterns and work. You don't
necessarily need the skills to draw a person in order to mix colours on a sheet of paper.
Cut away everything from your painting except the section you fancy the most and put it
into a passepartout paper frame. Can you see how nice it looks? Perhaps it turns
out to be the key to a summerquilt. Lines and curves in nature and in arcitechture are
strikingly beautiful and fantastic.
I willingly "go nuts" in admiration for one
of the world's most talented architects, Frank Lloyd Wright. Search the
web using his name and you'll come up with many keys to his incredible work of art in
designs of private homes and public buildings. "Wright On the Web" is the key
word, and from that site you look into the many photographs of every construction and
interior. Fallingwater is built over the creek and waterfall Bear run.
You may walk down into the murmuring water inside the house itself
Books on his
entire works include a lot of interest to us quilters such as decorative glass windows,
furniture, interior decorating and monumental architecture.
Here's the key, be my guest
